Ernest Tan

Director

Ernest Tan is involved in several of Tano’s investment initiatives but focuses most of his attention on new fund launch, research and marketing; leveraging his global operating experience in finance, operations, information technology, marketing, business development and project management.

In 1997, Mr. Tan was a Director and co-founder of start-up, Gateway Container Corporation, San Francisco.  Gateway owned, managed and leased marine transportation equipment valued at over $350 million, providing off balance sheet financing to the world’s leading ocean carriers.  Subsequent to Gateway, Mr. Tan led a multi-million dollar technology project for Franklin Templeton Funds, prior to joining Tano Capital, LLC in 2008.

From 1990 to 1996 Mr. Tan was with Genstar Container Corporation, a $2.5 billion international equipment asset owner and lessor, and one of the transportation related companies of General Electric Capital.  Mr. Tan held a variety of management level positions including several years as Operations Director for Genstar’s Pacific region. Based in Singapore, Mr. Tan’s responsibilities included overseeing all manufacturing and operations in the region which included China, the India sub-continent, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Southeast Asia and Australia.

Ernest received a Bachelor of Art’s degree from Colgate University in New York, completed internal management courses at GE Capital and has also studied at the Southwestern University of Law, Los Angeles.
